PE
At Christ the King we believes that Physical Education (PE) is essential to ensure children attain optimum physical and emotional development and good health. We intend to deliver fun, high quality teaching and learning opportunities that enable children to develop knowledge, skills and vocabulary in a broad range of sporting activities. We provide the opportunity for intra school competitions that inspire all children to succeed in physical education and we teach children skills to keep them safe, such as being able to swim. We also want to teach children how to build resilience and collaborate with others as part of an effective team, understanding fairness and equity of play to embed life-long values. Our curriculum improves the wellbeing and fitness of all children, not only through the sporting skills taught, but through the underpinning values and disciplines PE promotes.
We do this by:
- Ensuring children become physically literate we teach children to be motivated, confident, physically competent, knowledgeable and to take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life.
- Develop the child’s physical, mental, social, moral and cultural skills through a broad and balanced curriculum.
- Provide the opportunity for all children to experience a wide range of skills through a variety of sports and physical activities.
- Provide all children with the opportunity to experience competition through out of hours learning and offer a number of extra-curricular clubs for children to attend.
